Today was a good day. Not only did work go by fast, but it was a gorgeous day out as well. Britt and I made plans to head to the beach, but we weren’t sure what we wanted to do or anything… then it clicked in my head that I haven’t been to the Nubble lighthouse in a while, so I figured we would go there.

While there, I thought it would be a good idea to get a couple of shots since I haven’t actually gotten out of the house in a while and put use to my camera that has been laying around. What you see above is a shot I took of the lighthouse. The only downfall is that today was hazy out, so it was kind of hard to get a shot. Anyways, this was my result… a kind of vintage looking photo, which It thought turned out to be decent.

We hung around the lighthouse a bit and I let Britt fool around with my camera. One of the shots that she took of me ended up turning out really well and I am now using it for everything. The shot that she took is pictured to the right.

I honestly think if she would actually invest in a decent camera, she could take her skills to a whole other level. She is very talented when it comes to photography, she just doesn’t put the time or effort into it that she should. I would really like for her to actually get back into it, just for the fact that it’s fun to go on trips with her and we can both be involved in something like that.

I was thinking to myself that I need to invest in some more lenses. I’ve been using my standard 58mm zoom lens since I’ve gotten the camera, which now I think it’s time for an upgrade to something bigger and better. I’ve been really thinking about getting a telephoto lens, or even a wide angle lens for scenic shots. Not totally sure what I want to do yet, but I should start saving soon.

On the other hand, I really want to finish my sleeve soon. I’m sick of it looking “patchy” right now. It’s just really gaped looking to me, but that could just be how I look at it and how I feel… I don’t know. Hopefully soon when Stina opens her new shot that I can discuss my options with her. I know that I’m most likely going to lay down the money for the outline first like Britt did, just because it will be a lot cheaper that route other than doing the whole thing at once.

Well, I’m off… got some sleep to catch up on and some other stuff I have to do.

Goodnight all!

Three in the Morning

Britt and I were awoken by the dog barking like crazy this morning. Once I was awake I decided to see what the hell the dog was barking about. I opened my bedroom door and could hear pounding on my front door and lights flashing in… I was still in my boxers so I wasn’t going to just open the door and see who it was, specially at three in the morning. My mother eventually was woken by the dog barking and opened the door to find a police officer at our front door step.

The officer stated that one of our neighbors caught two kids stealing stuff from my car and my mothers car. Which isn’t to my surprise because people are scumbags that live around here and do that stuff often; It isn’t the first time this has happened. The officer then told me to look through my car to tell him what was stolen and from the looks of it there was nothing missing. Eventually I got to thinking when I was actually awake that what if they took my wallet that I had in the center console. I then got up and went outside to see if they did, and sure thing, they took it.

Little do they know that wallet that they took from my car had nothing of importance to me and that there isn’t anything in there that they could possibly use. I think It’s funny because not only did they steal my wallet, they ended up stealing change out of my mother car… but yet she had a dollar bill there and they didn’t touch it.

Another thing that I found a little bit strange is the fact that they even got into my car… I always lock my car every night when I get home from work. Oh, and did I mention that they were trying to take that extra precaution to be sneaky and lock my door after they stole stuff? I think that one is pretty damn funny if I do say so myself.

After searching through my car the second time the neighbor across the street shouted to me and told me that she was on her front porch having a cigarette and was watching these two kids approach her husbands truck. She said that she couldn’t believe it because she was standing right there and that they had to have seen her, or at least a little glimpse of her. They then still proceeded to try and steal stuff from the truck and she ended up shouting at them telling them to get the hell out of her husbands truck, from that point they ended up running off.

I honestly don’t get the audacity of these kids. Maybe the fact that I was never brought up that way to treat people like that or it was WRONG to steal from others, but this is just ridiculous. I think I may keep a closer watch on my car at night, and if I end up catching someone they will catch a nice bat the knees and punch to the damn face. You don’t come stealing my stuff and expect to get away with it.

Dell XPS X8300

I decided that I was finally going to get a new computer with my income tax money. I ended up throwing the idea of buying a computer from iBuyPower for the fact that I just didn’t want to wait that long to actually receive my system. I know, it’s kind of stupid and you all are probably thinking “Why the hell would you settle for something that isn’t as good just because of the wait?”, but that’s not the case at all. I took all matters in perspective and ended up finding the computer that I’ve wanted at BestBuy.

I ended up purchasing the Dell XPS X8300. This computer is one hell of a computer for off the shelf and it has some specs that compete with most computers from iBuyPower. The only thing that isn’t to great about it, is the fact that it has a AMD Radeon 6540 in it for a graphics card. Now this isn’t the BEST, but it does do what I need it to do for now. On the plus side the graphics card is not integrated, so I don’t have to worry about not being able to replace it with something that is way better and more up-to-date.

Before even thinking about buying the system, I had to take a look at what was in this and what was behind it backing it up. I’ve heard many years ago when these systems first came out on the market, that they were just amazing for just off the shelf computers. My system specs are as follows:

  • Graphics: AMD Radeon 540
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-2320 CPU @ 3.00 GHZ
  • Ram: 6GB
  • System: 64 Bit
  • Hardrive: 1TB

Personally, I don’t think that is too shabby for getting this at BestBuy. The bonus to getting this system is that it has extra RAM slots I can put more RAM in and it even have expandable bays that I can put other hardrive/CD drives into. Even thought the i5 isn’t all that new, it is still pretty damn good when it comes to gaming.

This is a random shot I took of my computer when I was just fooling around with my camera. You can semi see in the picture that there are air vents down at the bottom for better ventilation. There is also vents on the left side of the computer tower for the same reason. From what I’ve seen with this computer running for days on end downloading things, that it doesn’t get hot one bit. I’ve even played a system heavy game for a while and it didn’t heat up at all.

Currently the game that I’ve gotten into is RIFT. I didn’t know if I would like it that much because a lot of people were just stating that it was is “a WoW ripoff”, but this statement is totally incorrect. Yes, it does take the basic elements of World of Warcraft, but it takes those and vamps them up ten times as much. Just the whole feel of the game is amazing and what it is based around makes it that much better.  The game overall is just really awesome and I will have to write a review about it soon. For now, if you’re looking for a new MMORPG to play, check it out. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

iOS Lag Issue

20120118-103258.jpg
Ever since I purchased my iPhone and installed the iOS update 5.0.1 shortly after, I’ve noticed some lag. This was really surprising to me due to the fact that when I first bought the phone it had zero lag at all – pretty much null. The other thing is, is the fact that everyone stated that the iPhone was always pretty much lag free and was the best phone they have ever used in their life.

I ended up finding the problem to what was happening that was making the phone lag once iOS 5.0.1 was installed. Come to find out it was a really obvious and simple issue. The issue was iCloud, at least for myself. I never really have given it a thought that all this syncing of data would be slowing my phone down tremendously.

I then took the step of turning off some features that I find pretty useless that we’re never put to use in my behalf. Those features were the document and data storage along with the bookmark storage. Once these were turned off I have about zero lag with the keyboard when texting a message to someone and zero lag when typing something into Safari.

I think this is a sort of “bug” that is evident to apple and I’m sure they will be trying to fix it next iOS update that is launched, at least let’s hope and keep out fingers crossed.

Take the test. Does turning off some of the iCloud features help your phone free up? Or is it still acting it’s same sluggish self? Let me know what you think!

Starting Fresh

Figured that I’ve been blogging so much that I should just host my own blog. I ended up buying hosting of of dreamhost and hosting my own wordpress blog off of it. So far it’s gone great and I love what I can do with everything. Gives me all the flexibility that I need in a blog.

I recently tried to import my blog from tumblr, but it wasn’t letting me. I think it has something to do with the domain name that messed up. It’s strange though, because the name servers are pointed to dreamhost and nothing else… All well, for now this will do and I’m sure I’ll make changes later on down the road. Stay tuned!
