Battlefield 3 Raising the Bar in Cheating

DICE posted on the Battlefield 3 blog earlier today that they “have raised the anti-cheating measures”; so it states here. They are claiming that they have banned a fist full of  ”confirmed” cheaters based on the community reports that have been submitted to DICE. This is huge news for Battlefield 3 because the uprising of people cheating has been tremendous since it’s release back in October, 2o11. I, personally myself, have come across a few in game, but not as much as other players have experienced, which I’m grateful for. DICE states in their post that they have “always taken cheating seriously” and that starting today they will further increase their efforts to stop this matter that’s on hand. They also state that if you think you are a victim to this “cheating”, that you should report their profile under their renowned battlelog. By doing this, it will decrease the amount of players that are actually cheating and increase the overall quality of the game/experience you have in a game.

I hope this really does reduce the number of people cheating in Battlefield 3. It’s not very fun when you join a game and you have to deal with people that are “god-like”. It personally ruins my game experience, which I’m sure it does the same for others. I’m glad DICE is actually taking actions to this though… you don’t see many companies do something this large scale. I mean, Xbox live itself isn’t even that great at cracking down on people for cheating, or anything of the such. I guess we will just have to see where this goes from here.

What do you think on this? Do you actually think that DICE is going to be cracking down super-hard on this, or is it all talk? Let me know what you think by adding a comment to this post!

Battlefield 3

I’ve always been a passionate fan of the Battlefield series and have been an avid player of most of them. Recently I just got back into Battlefield 3 and I used to love everything about it. The Battlefield series always made you feel like you were actually there in the action/in the war that you were fighting for. It always gave me a sense of pride when I would shoot someone in the head over 300 miles away.

Lately I don’t know what has happened to Battlefield 3. I got on today to play a game and was doing really well, but the kids that are on it now just ruined the experience for me. It used to be that barely anyone would try and spawn camp a tank or any vehicle for that matter. Now that I’ve gotten back into it, that’s all you see. That is just the frosting to the cake though. Now you have kids that kill you and tea-bag you for no reason… even if their kill wasn’t even victorious. It’s odd to see that.

I’m not so sure if the community has fallen apart of it’s loyal battlefield players or what, but it has definitely changed from when I used to play. My personal opinion is that the younger audience is playing it now and that all the younger kids from the Call of Duty series has stepped over to Battlefield. The only reason I say this is because you hardly ever saw this kind of nonsense on the playing field prior to the release of Battlefield 3, or even when it first came out for that matter. I just don’t know what has happened.

What’s your opinion on all of this? Do you think that younger audiences are being drawn into these more “mature” games, or is it just the community overall that’s falling apart on these video games? Let me know what you think by dropping a comment on this post!
